UNTIL DUSK II
Inspired by Until Dawn and Until Dusk
INTRODUCTION
As many of you may know, on the old forums I set up the forum game - Until Dusk, in which players would take their role as fictional versions of themselves and make decisions which altered the story. As well as this, recently, the hit game Until Dawn has been released, and gaining quite a lot of attention, for its intricate story-telling., I was set upon trying to re-create a better-written version of Werewolves and Until Dusk, so this will be a sequel. RULES AND GUIDELINES
- The forum rules still apply and should be followed to the letter. - If I ever put my foot down on an argument, that is it. That is the end of the discussion. (I will only do so if I feel that it is necessary) - Try and generally be dedicated to this, as it will be quite long and will require your input. - Characters can die due to your own or other players choices, so be prepared! This include characters being able to openly kill other characters, at times. Character deaths however and those type of decisions would be somewhat of a rarity, however. - If you are unhappy with anything at all, private message me, I am here to help. - You are able to tell me what you want a character to say in response to situations, or act, and as long as I agree with it, then it is perfectly fine. Just because I am writing the character, does not make it mine; your input is the very bedrock of Until Dusk II - However whilst you can give background information on your character but (unless you planned otherwise), avoiding making anything too drastic such as saying how certain characters met, or their past lives concerning romance or anything like that. - Sometimes you will not be able to make a choice whatsoever, and other players will have to make choices that could effect you or just simply because the story calls for it. So don't worry if there are no options available to you in certain extracts. OUTLINE
Until Dusk is hugely inspired by Until Dawn (definitely not ripped off), but is not in the same universe. It is a sequel to Until Dusk. Taking place in a similar setting of a privately owned lodge during a harsh winter on a mountain, Until Dusk gives the same idea of having a group of friends come up to have some fun and generally relax, as they spend a week in the lodge. However with a dark past surrounding the getaway, as well as the possibility of death around each and every corner. The group soon realizes that their fun-time fantasies can never be quenched, as they will be forced to make drastic choices and will have to learn, that their actions have can have drastic consequences. The name is clearly inspired by Until Dawn. Structurally, the story will start at dusk with many of the player characters meeting one another and getting settled in. This would be before the eventual plot gets around the corner, and the players will have to endure horrific perils for twenty four hours, and they can never reach safety, until dawn. CHOICE AND CONSEQUENCE
Now that you have a general overview of the story, you may be asking how choice and consequence comes into play. Similar to Werewolves, I will be asking players to make choices which they will send to me in private messages. Your choices will affect other characters, can possibly lead to injury and death, and ultimately contribute to how the story unfolds. After each choice, I will personally write extracts of how each choice changes the story, and will be asking players for another choice. Expect, at the very least, one post per day showing how the story further unfolds. The general overview of the story is somewhat long, depending on the choices that are made, however the story can go anywhere, and this will last over months, so if you are not able to dedicate yourself to this, you may want to think twice before joining. But, after all, it's your choice. CHARACTERS Similar to Until Dawn, the characters will be fictional versions of the players. The characters would have all known each other somewhat well, though that's not to say that there aren't rivalries, the formation or destruction of relationships, as the story unfolds. After applying, I will be privately messaging you all, what your characters will think of others, and asking you to list three traits of your characters so I can get a general idea of the way you'd like for me to write them. If you are ever unhappy with how your character is represented, feel free to message me, and I will be able to edit post, when possible. During application, you may also pick a colour to represent your character. This makes it easier to track down your characters during extracts and to find out about other characters much easier as well. Try to pick readable colours, so nothing too light that we can't read. Also, you may sometimes be asked to change your colour and as well as this, generally try not to have colours similar to other players. Please also make sure to give me the HTML colour code for whatever colour you choose. Nevertheless, these will all be details that will be sorted out privately. If you want characters to maintain good relationships with others, and generally support certain characters or even demean certain others, than you can privately message and forge alliances with players, that is absolutely fine. CONCLUSION That's it. Feel free to ask any questions that you have, or any concerns. If you would like to apply do so now, but if spaces run out, then there is really nothing I can do about it, I'm afraid. Remember to choose a colour for your character. 1 - Jon 2- Sam 3 - Alex 4 - Adam 5 - Jen 6- Jaden 7 - Arla

CHAPTER ONE: EXECUTION I Snow descended on the dormant cabin, all light slowly sinking behind the mountains as the sun was setting, twilight hanging overhead as the gentle limelight of phones and for some, torches, began to carve away at the darkness, giving the hope of short-lived vision for the time being as the snow was rife underfoot. It was soon apparent that in this lodge, founded in its own wintry domain, a crevice at the top of this large mountain surrounded by many others that were banished to desolation, that treacherous events of the night were about to unfurl as many came for the annual winter getaway, and only a few, if any, would be able to return to their lives.
* [JON]
Jon struggled, the suitcaseâs wheels constantly getting stuck in the snowy floor below as he creaked on wooden beams, a short bridge over a large gap where an icy river rushed underneath, spitting every so often against Jon as he heard the bridge creak and watched it dance with the wind in a risky manner.
[Take the bridge]
[Find another path]
*
[SAM]
Sam, wishing that he had packed another coat after a tree branch had ripped part of his off, cursed and muttered under his breath as he wondered what part of his mind convinced him to come all the way out here for a âwinterâs getawayâ. Nonetheless, he was barely paying attention as he realised he had taken the wrong path, groaning again out of frustration he took a deep breath, watching his hot breath flow upon the winterâs wind as he saw the full moon rising.
[Enjoy the view]
[Go back to finding the cabin]
*
[ALEX]
Alex, excited and adventurous if unlike him, he did not know, had been looking forward to the trip for weeks, already planning on what to pack and bring with him days beforehand. He could only imagine how everyone else had organised themselves, or what they had been doing for the past couple of weeks, he barely saw any of them, being far too preoccupied in his own work.
Nevertheless, some time away from home was much welcome unlike the winter season that had him shivering as frost stained his clothes. He walked through the forest, whistling ever so quietly as he heard an odd groan in the distance, not so much a groan as a yelp or a growl, in fact the further Alex thought about it, the less sense the sound made as it emanated from beyond the shadows of the nearby tree. He turned, he could see what little light the cabin provided, imagining someone was already there, but at the same time, his curious mind was attempting to get the better of him.
[Investigate the odd sound]
[Continue on towards the cabin]
*
[ADAM]
Adam, as organised as ever, or at least thatâs what he liked to think got him to the cabin so early, had only remembered the winterâs getaway months beforehand, making sure to ask There was no real host to these events, more so it was an old cabin that Adam had bought for dirt-cheap and had been renovated freely by a kind soul, a relative of the actual owners who seemed sad to see it go, though having no ownership himself, he could not dictate who the cabin belonged to.
He spouted all kinds of odd nonsense, ghost stories about the cabin and the surrounding rumours and whispers of the area. Adam dozed off most of the time, he knew that the rhythm of the hammer had woken him up one time too many as he simply nodded and murmured sounds of approval at the older manâs droning. Now he had the key in his hands, the lights being switched on but the cold air spilling through. He glanced around. Now, he wasnât sure what to do, hearing virtually nothing from the others aside from a confirmation that they were on their way hours ago.
[Light the fireplace]
[Wait outside for others]
*
[JEN]
Jen was rushing. Perhaps that was an understatement. She was sprinting. Her backpack tugging at her as she was worried sheâd be late, the bus she was riding unfortunately having a flat tyre. Now she was rushing, nearly towards the base of the mountain as she set up along the pathway, as she came to the main gate, still barely left open as it had been for years (though she had warned everyone every single time of keeping the gate open, though supposedly Adam âlost the keyâ on the first day). Nonetheless she was still late, pushing the few brown hairs that had fallen in front of her face out of the way, as she glanced around.
[Find a shortcut]
[Go through the main path]
*
[JADEN]
It was odd for Jaden to necessarily be here, being someone who had only previously visited for one of the apparently three âannual winter getawaysâ, it still was a lot less awkward than last time, even fun in some regard. Nonetheless, having to use a map that was handed to him last time, he managed to discern some of the pathways, not paying much attention as suddenly he struck a tree, colliding into him as he blinked and paid attention.
In a small clearing he could see it, the large cabin that towered over him and only the trees pushed pass in terms of height, seeing light emanate from the cabin windows, he smiled to himself. It was good to at least finally be here in such treacherous woods, however the moment he was about to knock, he saw the outline of something disturbing the bushes as he narrowed his eyes. Darkness was descending upon them and it was hard to make out who it was. But a backpack that was on them, led him to perhaps consider that it was one of the few people who were coming to the getaway.
[Knock on the cabin door]
[Go towards the person]
*
[ARLA]
Arla, walking calmly as she started heading towards the cabin was neither confused nor scared, having decent navigational skill, she had tried her best to learn the way to the cabin by heart from numerous locations before the first getaway only three years ago. Now she felt like she could do it in her sleep, though that was merely a lie. After a full year of a wide range of experiences, she could only remember a few pathways, not a lot of them being far and unfortunately she had all but handed the map to Jaden last year for his first. She was glad to have done so, at least thatâs what she told herself but she still had little idea where the cabin may be until she came to a split in the woods.
Itâs the right.
She told herself, stepping towards it, however the left lured her with light that she could see shortly into the distance, remembering that she could normally get a good view of the cabin when she came to this split in the woods.
Why canât I just walk the main path like everyone else?
Arla knew that the next time, she was going to avoid shortcuts like this as she stood there, frozen like the trees around her, wondering what to do.
[Head to the left; towards the light]
[Head to the right; through instinct]

CHAPTER ONE: EXECUTION II [JON]
Watching the rushing waters that frothed and sputtered droplets that stained the rocks perched upon their sides, Jon immediately knew that crossing the bridge, as old and rickety as it was, was likely not the best idea. Instead he began to try and find another path, ignoring the tall and dark trees that stalked him, the evergreen leaves covered in a sprinkle of snow as was the ground underfoot, as he continued to push through deeper into the woods. It was almost then he swore he heard something that made him jump, as he ignored the wilderness, something that had been nothing more than an annoyance for the getaway as he suddenly found himself on the right path, a path carved into the forest that he would surely recognise. Until worry struck him, as he thought about unpacking at the cabin. Where was his phone?
âFuck,â Jon muttered to himself as he realised he left it somewhere, checking everywhere, he knew he couldnât have dropped it, he surely couldnât have dropped it...Scouring the nearby ground, he found nothing but empty darkness.
[Go back to find the phone]
[Carry on ahead]
* [SAM]
Sam stepped forward, the sound of snow shoved underneath his footfalls created a calming mantra that rivalled the great gusts of cold winds that caused him to shiver, this wasnât the type of weather that he was used to and he hoped heâd never have to get used to such cold climates. Nonetheless as he stepped forward, he embraced the starry sky, he looked around and gazed at the sight of the mountains in the distance, the sea of trees underneath and then something odd, a shadow of something or someone at the cable car, but they werenât coming up, instead they were simply near the small entrance building, stepping inside. Sam glanced around, suddenly wondering whether he should investigate.
[Cabin]
[Cable Car]
*
[ALEX]
Alex only shrugged the sound off as something of the wood, wild and unnatural that didnât need his explanation or his unrivalled curiosity to examine as he simply wandered on. It was only a few moments from there that he suddenly saw springing into his view, the familiar outline of the cabin, smiling as he already felt the niche sense of comfort that only a cabin in the middle of such snowy woods could give, the warmth already reaching him as he saw a familiar face lingering outside. At the same time, the journey was far too tiring, and Adam usually left the backdoor open.
[Greet them]
[Backdoor]
*
[ADAM]
Adam gazed down at the embers that started to emanate in the fireplace as he poked at some of the logs with the dark fire poker, watching the embers burst into great flames that started to provide extra warmth and light for the main room in the cabin as he turned to hear a knock at the door.
[Let them in]
[âWho is it?â]
*
[JEN]
It took a while, even in her brisk pace, but Jen soon found herself immediately rushing to the cable car, closing it behind her as she was relieved that it was still made available, wondering who left it behind for any latecomers such as herself and hoping she was lucky enough that somebody was waiting for her. Nonetheless as she sat down after having already activating the cable car, she could feel it ricket slightly as it started to pull, going up and that was when the odd light emanated from around the corner. Picking up the device that was on the floor, Jen realised she had found a phone, completely unlocked and looking at the wallpaper, she could see it was clearly Jonâs. She looked around, nobody with her, and she started to doubt anybody was waitingâŠ
[Take a peek at the phone]
[Lock the phone, donât look]
*
[JADEN]
Jaden knocked at the door, trying his best to ignore the sound of something behind him as he simply brushed this off as the odd sound of the wind rustling the leaves or something. Instead he kept knocking, hoping that someone would answer, but nobody came. The light was on, but maybe Adam or the others just stepped out for a while.
[Knock again]
[Find another way in]
[Maybe nobodyâs here right now, wait for the others]
*
[ARLA]
Arla knew that her instinct had gotten her in odd situations for the most part, and quickly shook her head, knowing that the light was the safest bet, heading towards the left, a quick and short trail seeing the light that was so close as she suddenly felt the forest grow thicker around her. With that, she smiled seeing the cabin so close and already seeing somebody waiting outside, it didnât take long to know it was Jaden, their newcomer, and she saw him waiting and knocking at the door.
[Greet Jaden; âHey Jadenâ]
[Scare Jaden]

UNTIL DUSKCHAPTER ONE: EXECUTIONIIIJon sighed as he couldn't figure out where his phone had gone. Simply deciding to carry on he walked through the snowy grounds, ignoring the bashing waters of the river nearby as the stream slowly faltered out into the cold air, fading away and disappearing between the shadows between the trees. It was only after a while that he saw a light off into the distance as he slowly crept up to see the familiar figures of Jaden and Arla, both of them standing nearby the edge of the cabin.
[Catch up with them]
[Ignore them and go straight for the cabin] *Sam was curious, already starting to scuttle down and try to find out what was going on, his mind wandered around the mysterious figure that seemed to be simply inside the entrance building and now calling for the cable car to come down. It could've been someone that was coming up to finally get to the cabin, though it was weird that they were coming this late. Nonetheless, as he started to finally make his way to their own side of the building, he now saw the cable car was starting to come up slowly, and the silhouette of a tall and thin female seated inside.[Wait for them]
[Hide]*Alex carried on, not exactly entertained by shadows that moved out of the corner of his eye and knowing that the light could be none other than the cabin he started to find himself approaching the cabin from another side. Already it looked like a few others had made it, busying themselves as the cold continued to bite at his own skin. He glanced around.
[Go through the front door]
[Go through the back door] *Adam simply glanced back up again, already starting to enjoy the ebbing warmth of the fire against him, he could only raise an eyebrow as he wondered who was already at the door. It seemed that a lot of the people were going to be late and he'd rather not speculate over who he'd have to suddenly expect. "Who is it?" asked Adam, still glancing towards the door as he drew closer.[Open the door]
[Check who it is through the window] * Jen immediately locked the phone, she didn't need to go around invading privacy of all things, especially to Jon. Though there was still a part of her mind that tingled with curiosity. She rocked with the cable car that started to slowly sail through the air, loud and mechanical as she glimpsed the glorious views of the wintry forests underneath and the cool air that passed through. She went on to her own smartphone, replacing it with Jon's which she pocketed as she glanced down at it. She hadn't told anyone she'd be late so...[Text Alex]
[Text Adam]
[Text Sam]
[Text nobody]
* Jaden simply walked forward, ignoring the trailing footsteps emanating from around him for a moment as he tried to wonder if there was another way in before realising there was a backdoor. Though the wild winds continued to sweep by, he started to wonder who exactly was around him as the footsteps grew closer and closer. It was only after Jaden was suddenly confronted with Arla that he stopped. [Try the back entrance]
[Try the front entrance again] * Arla watched as Jaden started to walk forward, a mischievous smile on her face faded as she decided to cough watching as Jaden spin around as he was looking for another way inside.
"Hey Jaden," said Arla, her voice quieter in the shallow winds that stormed throughout the night. She looked off to the side.
["How are you?"]
["What have you been up to?"]
