- CLAUDIA KRAMER - CLAUDIA'S APARTMENT - DOWNTOWN - MORNING (BGM) Alarm, a body turning, eyes opening to the featureless roof above her. A sigh escaped her as she struggled to get herself upright, aches plaguing her shoulder. The problem was getting more common, and she knew she didn't have a solution, no anymore possible access. The blinds opened as she inspected her adopted arm, getting stiffer as time went on. The light of Christmas Day gradually leaked into the room as the details showed itself into the fairly cramped room. "Good morning Miss Kramer. Today is - Tuesday - December - 25th. Merry Christmas Miss Kramer." Christmas Day, exactly what I needed. She reached for the painkillers as her feet started to dangle from the bed and towards the series of wires and old equipment she salvaged from the mothballed island she once called her home. Two pills. "You have - one - arrangement and - one - new message." A new message? Automated I presume. "Who from?" she asked, as she plugged one of the dangling wires into Cooper's arm. "Benedict Strahm." A small smile escaped from her face as the screen in front of her told her the status of the arm. It was getting worse, rejection from the unfamiliar user become more gradual. She was just happy that it was focused on the arm and the relationship between it and her body. "Play it," she commanded, while unplugging herself and making her way towards the kitchen. "Hey Claud, it's Ben. Just thought I'd give you a call to say Merry Christmas and best wishes. I know it's been a few weeks but I've left you something at The Village, and if you can give me a call we can talk about what's happening. I read what's happening, and I want to help but only if you want it. I've left my number so feel free to take me up on that offer. Love you."She had started to pour the milk into her cereal as the message ended. "And the event?" she asked. "You have a hearing with the High Council today at the temporary chambers."Fantastic, just what we all needed. She grabbed a dressing gown and made her way back into the bedroom, before placing herself at the cramped desk, littered with notes and trash. She logged on, took a bite out of her cereal, before making the call. It didn't take long for an answer, and a human in a similar looking dressing gown appeared on her screen. "Claud! Glad to see you again," said the smiling friendly face she had known. "Glad to see you again too Ben," she replied, lightly smiling at the screen in front of her. "How's the arm doing?""Little stiff, but still functional. How's Montreal?" "Home's home, but it doesn't feel the same now. Heard about the hearing, managed to make its way up here and it was impossible to not try to call. You ok? You need me to come back down, I could get the next flight.""You don't need to worry about anything, as far as I know if they needed you, you'd been called by now." "Same must go to Andras, but it seems he's fine too. Take my advice, don't try to hide anything. The name has had enough thrown on it already without the High Council joining in.""I'll keep it in mind." Her smile faded a little bit. "I didn't see you at the funeral." A sigh escaped the screen as a hint of sadness portrayed itself on the screen, in contrast the the sharp, clean background. "I feared you'd say that, and it is something I didn't want to confront. It was bad enough watching from live from an office but it was worse hearing the news myself." He leaned back. "I really wanted to go, and I sent flowers, but I had to consider the consequences. There's a possibility that the whole thing was watched by those guys you've had constant run ins with over the months, and even if their numbers have diminished as you have suggested, they still have the resources necessary to cause massive amount of damage. The last thing the both of us want is a target painted over a certain company's employee catalogue.""There weren't that many people there." "Claudia, I loved him like a brother, but there's no way of getting around the number of enemies he had when he passed away. You've inherited that possibility by default. If anything the hearing and warrant is your lifeline, last thing Reaver would want is the Kramer family heralded as a family who died for the city. Things like that bother even the coldest of souls. Did you scatter his ashes?""Yes." "At least they don't have any part of him to taunt you with." He leaned forward. "You got anything lined up?""Want to get my arm fixed first." "Considering the source, I would count on that lasting from some time. You need something to tie you over.""What could I get? Who would hire someone as toxic as me?" "I could try to get you into the police department if you want, could pull a few strings and send a glowing recommendation, but there are places who could use someone like you. You're valuable."Claudia took another bite out of the cereal before taking a look out of the window. It was fairly quiet, but knew that it might get a little busy with people attending family members and local events. If only she could go. "I know it's hard to see the silver lining after what happened to Jon, but I'll do my damnedest to get you into a profession that suits your talents. Either way, you have that Christmas present at the Village waiting for you.""Is it alcohol?" "No no no, nothing like that, swore that off after my last visit to Heartania's finest ward. Just something I thought you might like, left the receipt in there just in case you didn't want it." He leaned forward. "I hate to rush, but I have to prepare for an investors call up here, but if you want to speak to me again then feel free to give me a call, ok?"Claudia turned back to the computer a took a long look at Benedict's pained eyes, dry after all these weeks in addition to looking at a monitor in front of him. "All good." Benedict smiled again. "Love you Claud.""Goodbye Ben."

Valentine walked into the kitchen rubbing their head with a towel, hair dripping down onto their shoulders as they watched the older woman grab plates and cutting boards before catching their eye.
"Merry Christmas." Ali grinned across at them half waving the loaf of bread they were drawing out of their bread bin. Valentine plastered on a grin and replied in kind while picking up a knife from the block before them. Nice sharp knives with just the right amount of weight to them. They really did like Ali.
"Merry Christmas to you too. Look i'll cut the bread while you make up the tea."
"Thanks.. I'm glad you could be here, I didn't want you to be alone at christmas its such a cruel time to be so far from loved ones." The words tumbled out making Valentine grit their teeth a little. They agreed completely.
"Thank you indeed for letting a stranger into your home, i've only known you such a short while after all."
Ali turned her back to them as she made the tea and Valentine hovered there for a second knife outstretched the bustling motions in front of them hypnotic.
"Hah well its not like you're a bad person. I've gotten to know you well enough to know that."
-- "That is a question you need to ask yourself not me. You're sitting on a big crossroads.. What can you see from where you are?"
"I can see loneliness.."
"Hah we all see that from time to time. Now look again and look practically not like a scared child, didn't your parents bring you up to look at the world logically?"
L smiled then thinking of all the times they had sat with Kay working through things with an even harsher logic than this woman would likely ever imagine. She needed to stop pretending to be human for a minute and think like herself.
"Then I can either stay in this location or I can leave. I have methods of income either way but if I choose to leave.." L choked a little as emotion still bled into her logic, she was a sentient machine not human but humans did not have a monopoly on feelings however much they pretended they did.
"It admits that there is no chance that they are coming back."
"No. It doesn't admit that. What it admits is that you don't want to wait for them to come back. Don't confuse the two. Hope is nice but its not practical and pining is not a sweet thing to do even if you are a cute dog on your masters grave. It kills you, starves you."
"What if I stayed for the friends I have here? For their support?" L retorted feeling defensive after the sudden harshness.
Eve spread their hands shrugging. "That's a different matter altogether. That would be sensible, support can be practical if you have trust there but it can also be dangerous... Never be a hero standing alone against the night but also don't play a coward hiding behind their bunkers walls. Both are lonely and both will make you a target."
L glanced quickly her eyes flicking over Eve for a hint. Sure she didn't have the signature giveaway of the broken eyes but who else would sit with her like this. Know to say that right then.
"Kay?"
"I'm not Kay." Eve was soft but buried with a hardness like stones in snowballs. "I fear that you were right in your worry. Your friend is likely dead."
"What I would do if I was you is make the choice.. If you truly believe that the life you have here is what you want. That you have to stay in this city then do that. You're in a bad place right now but I can see clearly that you can see it through."
"If you want to take a plunge and try something new. There is a whole world out there to explore. It'll take bravery to choose either path as long as it is a choice and not just a moment of freeze."
"If you need a ride out of town give me a call on this number before the end of today. I'm moving on soon and I doubt I will be back this way for a long while." Eve gave one last soft smile and left after paying, L sat for a while alone before bringing out the number on the paper in front of her.
"Kay.." L paused then the words of their conversation washing over them. "No. Eve, the start of a new beginning." She clasped the number in her hand. She had only a few hours to decide, she moved to the till as she began to wonder whether she should go to the apartment or call upon Cybelle and Twelve first.

Wild Card Through out the city most places where closed with only a few cornershop and the news station open, among these was the Full House that was closed which was rather Odd considering the opertunaties that could be happening, Wild Card was walking around holding a cup of coffee as he looked out the window, the snow was still falling and settled on the ground making it look like a Xmas card at the parking lot with his limo covered in snow "Its so nice to be alone in my Quight casino...well almost alone" he said as he took a sip of his coffe and looked up at the camera that quickly turned to him, as he turned away from the window outside there was a truck slowly making its way into the front parking lot

- NATASHA MCCALL -SWIMMING POOL - MCCALL COMPOUND - MORNING(BGM) McCall kept her eyes shut as the reflective blue light surrounded her. Dressed in a one-piece and plucking the softest of the high notes on her guitar, her body was kept elevated above the water as the tune she played echoed from the walls. The curtains were shut as to be expected from the dark morning of winter, and all there was were just her and the tranquil aura that surrounded her. The water floated above her as she controlled the flow smoothly, giving the air around her a damp but calm feel, until one drop landed on her leg. She breathed out and the water returned to it's natural state in the pool below her.
"You're stressed."
She slowly opened her eyes to see a face she had started to come to know. Manuel Sabata, someone giving her a hand and keeping the compound clean single-handedly. Kindhearted, calming, someone who answered her beckoned call if needed. She continued to play the light song as her body moved upright to face the aged man. "You think?"
"I see for myself, you might be taking some steps to ease yourself but you're not combating what is bothering you."
Her face frowned. "You know what is bothering me?"
"Only you know what is bothering you, even if you don't know what exactly it is. I only see the consequences."
She delved in thought, she wasn't too sure what it was pinging her mind but she had a good idea where to start. Sonar, Reaver, the incident three weeks ago, Christmas Day, she couldn't think of some others. Maybe her parents, but that was a contact she shredded long ago. The city and the world is a lot more different than it was only three months ago, and it was a strange sensation to feel. "You have any ideas on how to combat it?"
Manuel's hand rested on his chin, and he closed his eyes for the pursuit of possible avenues. "You could stay here and see if your method of calming yourself eventually works, it's certainly a spectacle from an observational standpoint." He started taking off his shoes. "You could practice and refine your skills to prepare yourself for the battles ahead, a wish direction considering the escalation of activity from the past few months." He started walking around the swimming pool. "Another option would be to contact those dear to you, head back to the studio upstairs, or..."
"or what?" she interrupted, before shuddering her head to one side and instantly said, "sorry."
Manuel just smiled and opened the curtains and window. The sky had turned grey from the late sun, but it hadn't turned up yet to light up the city. Christmas Day, oddly dark despite the spirit surrounding it. "Or you can take a good look around, go and embrace the city and it's architecture, get to know as much as you want, unleash your stress in the way you seem fit." He held out a canteen containing water towards the open window, alongside a winter jacket.
She had her options presented to her, and she couldn't think of any others that would help her. She loved music, she want to know more, she wanted to help, yet the one thing holding her back was hiding from her. She needed to rectify that, she needed to take her first steps.
Her breathing quickened as the song she played got louder, faster, and heavier. Her eyes looked out of the window, focusing on the beautifully decorated garden and the mountain that started at the end of it. She closed her eyes as the music continued building up, and after a sudden silence of the guitar, she strummed hard and rocketed herself out of the window.
Her body fired itself from the compound and up the mountainside, with McCall's back to the rocky ground to get herself a good view of the city. It was frosted over, creating a low mist effect, making it more difficult to see, she would need to see everything up close.
Over the mountain and rocketing down the steel hill to see the site that changed the course of her journey, now dark and bruised from that fateful day. It almost gave her a daylight nightmare, but it was something she would have to expect.
The speed was constant as she flew across the ocean floor, nearly touching the vast desert that filled most of the planet she resided on. Her body faced it, her head was facing the direction she was heading, and she continued strumming while focusing on her breathing.
The bridge, the bridge she held for so long during her first arrival. The woman with the blades, the scars left behind, it started there, and now it was back and functional. The river itself had some cargo going in, the city never sleeps, even during the holidays.
She started gaining some height as she circled the city in speed. She saw it all, the square still under repair, the slightly dimmed area that once housed Achilleus, the Tower shadowing every other building around it, the industrial sector, the financial street, the hospital, everything was building itself up, and with each strum on the guitar, McCall sent noise to the ground. It was what kept her going as she went higher and higher, before levelling herself and pierced the sky itself.
She stopped playing as the speed of her climb got slower and slower. The air was thinner, but she controlled her breathing to observe the clouds below her, hiding the rising sun. It was less bright than usual, felt cold, almost melancholy. She started her slow decent, before finally coming to a stop on the tip of the clouds itself.
She continued looking at the sun as it revealed more of itself, before uttering "Merry Christmas."

Christmas. It was, usually, one of his least favorite holidays. But this Christmas was special. Finally, The Man In The Rabbit Mask had his prey, and his whole plan worked out. Janice, currently, was tied to a chair in an abandoned maintenance room within the sewers. He had kidnapped her yesterday, and currently, the city was in a tizzy. But it was Christmas, and he had to give the people of Heartania the gift they always wanted.
Suddenly he pressed open the door to the maintenance room. A woman staring at him with burning eyes.
"Don't be so angry." He said in a monotone voice. In his hand, he held a disc. Within this disc, held Janice reading out a note, which says that she will die within the next 24hr's if she is not saved. All he had to do now, was get this shown onto every single news outlet possible.

Wild Card As the truck pulled up outside the door swung open and four people quickly walked out and ran towards the entrance of the Casino, a man stepped out of the driver seat and put on a balaclava "Alright folks, this job should be easy, nobodys home so it's just a quick break down the vault door and grab the cash" he said as he loaded his gun and walked towards the doors, Wild card was walking to bar when suddenly the doors burst open with four goons running through and setting off the alarms, "Turner take out that alarm, the rest of you with me" the leader said as he pointed towards the bar and circled his finger around leading the others in the direction of the vault. Wild card heard them and went to the security room and pressed his cuff link before this Turner set off, closing the door behind him and hiding around the other side of the door waiting for him to walk in, as the door opened Wild card held his breath waiting for him to turn off the alarm, leaving the door open and unaware that he wasnt alone in the room Wild card listend to the heavy boot steps walking to the console and shutting down the alarm once the alarm was off Wild card quickly ran up to him and knocked him out with one swift punch to the head, Turner fell and hit his head on one of the chairs in the room landing on the floor as Wild card stood over the body and pulled out his gun thinking about shooting him then and their, one of the screen caught Wild cards eye and turned to it the remaining four were heading towards the elevator that lead to the Vault a small smirk appeared on his face as he knew what was to come. The leader was looking around the hall at the cameras making sure that they had stopped moving, getting closer to the elevator door the leader pointed at the controls and goon in front ran to them and was about to press the button to call when suddenly 'Dink!' the elevator was already rung, the goon staggered back a little and looked back to the leader and then turned her head back towards the door, the Elevator doors opened and in the middle stood Ms Diamond in a long backless sparkly dress "I didn't see your names on the guest list" she said in a sinister tone pulling down her sunglasses, the leader of the goons looked at both the goons stood next to him "Dont just stand there shoot her!" he commanded as they started to do so, the good stood closest to Ms Diamond held up her assault rifle towards her and Ms Diamond grabbed hold of the barrel and bent it upwards to stop it from firing, the goons started to shoot so Ms Diamond grabbed hold of the closest goon and used her to shield herself from the on coming fire and ran towards them. Once she was in range she pushed the bullet shield towards the goon on the left to knock him down, she quickly ducked out of the way of the shotgun blast from the goon on the right who blasted a hole in the wall, the leader started to back off abit as Ms Diamond stood up and threw her leg in the air kicking the chin of the shotgun goon, with her leg still lifted she pulled the small hand gun she had strapped to inside of her thigh and shot the man twice once in the chest and then in the head, as she put her foot down she shot the other goon on the floor getting the blooded team off them in the head, once she shot Ms Diamond moved her gun to the leader who had also his gun pointed at her head and ready to pull the trigger "Nice show lady, To bad it had to end this way" he said menacingly.

"I think i'm a much worse person than you think Ali. You're too kind, i'm a monster underneath the surface."
As Ali turned back with a couple of steaming mugs Valentine was focused on cutting the bread eyes down on the board resisting catching her gaze.
"Hah now you're looking at me wrong. I'm a coward under all the hero stuff from the past." She laughed bitterly as she placed down the mug, leaving her back exposed again as she worked on the bacon. "I guess we're both pretending to be something we're not. Makes us a pair."
Valentine paused staring at the tea with those words spinning round their mind. A pair just like the old lady and her husband in their little apartment overlooking an empty furniture shop. They had sat hand in hand watching tv as Valentine had slipped in, whispering a few blunt insults that softly changed to a kiss before Valentine made them even more of a pair.
They raised their mug to their lips as they turned to watch Ali. Ali who had over the last few weeks taken them under her wing as they both had tried to find a purpose in the city alone but now together. A pair. Yes, a pair.
--
L decided to contact her friends first as she could do that as she headed back to the apartment her boots crunching along the ground. She left them each a message hoping they would call her back.
"Hey Merry Christmas to you... I was wondering if you're free any time today, I know its Christmas but I have some things I need to ask you about.. but again if you're busy don't worry just call me back please."
It was like throwing a weight in the air then catching it again as she made her first move but then had to wait for the consequences to hit. Whatever happened today would make a difference. She was not going to watch the clock stroke midnight without making a change in her life. She gave the slip of paper in her pocket a squeeze and kept walking hoping for a reply from Cybelle and Twelve.

Wild Card The goon's leaders gun was pointed at Ms Diamonds head and he was ready to fire so Ms Diamond closed her eyes, still with her eyes closed she waited for the gun to go off... she waited and waited until eventually she opened her eyes and saw Wild card stood there over the body as it laid unconscious on the floor, "Ms Diamond can you grab a chair, we need to have a little chat with our unexpected guest" he said catching his breath and started to pick up the man, with a nod ran off to one of the back rooms to get one of the chair they Wild card wouldn't mind getting blood on it. A while later the Leader of the goons started to regain consciousnesses when suddenly a flash of white and pain went across his face, he started to look around frantically as he saw some people moving the rest of his team in to pile "Oh good your awake, now we can have a little chat" Wild card said as he was sat to the side of him, the leader struggled to move as he was tied to the chair "I'm missing my little girl first Xmas for this" one of Wild cards goons said as he threw the body on the pile "I know I'm sorry but this is what happens when you unexpected guest crashing your business, but dont worry i'll put a bit extra in your bonus for working today" Wild card said, turning back his goon started to mumble something under his breath as he leaned against the wall "So.. who do you work for?, It must be some one new as most of the gangs in the city know not to try and steal from me any way" Wild card said "Im not telling you nothing!" the leader said angrily. "Hmm really?" 'Bang' Wild card fired his gun into the leg of the Leader indicating he was being serious, he was about to ask again when suddenly there was a faint buzzing in the air, looking around at the others in the room Wild card knew it was a phone but who's, looking at his goon and Ms Diamond in the room as if to ask them they both shrugged so he turned to the Leader "Oh, you appear to have a call waiting, lets find out who it is" he said as he pulled out the leaders phone from one of his pockets and held it up "Now be careful what you say" Wild card said as he held his gun up to the Leader, he pressed the speaker button on his phone and voice of an unfamiliar gang boss came out "Hey Lenny how'd the job go, did you get in the Vault?" he said, Wild card still holding the phone mouthed the words "Well?" the Leader Lenny started to breath heavily and look side to side "..No.. Boss, we didn't get it.. it was.. it was a set.." 'Bang' Wild card shot the man and said "And thats enough of that conversation, Hello who is this im talking to, you must be new at this am I right?" Wild card said into the phone as he stood up. "No you tell me who this is, or ill run your casino into the ground" the gang boss said trying to be threatening, "oh you are indeed new, and judging by your name Mr Don Desmo you must be from Capital city am i right?" Wild card said looking at the phone and then speaking back into it, there was no response the gang leader was speechless and didn't have any other words to come back at him with, Wild card look around as he wait for a response "Well its been lovely talking to you Mr Desmo, I look forward to your all out attack with the rest of your men, if you have that many or maybe you'll come to the annual Card game at the end of the year im sure we can make acceptation for new comers in the crime world of the city, Ta ta for now" Wild card said as he ended the call, Turning to head to the door "remove the gear and dump the bodies in the river, you know the routine by now" he said as his goons started to take the gear off the bodies and Ms Diamond got off the table she was sitting on to follow Wild card, as they exited the room Ms Diamond asked "Do you think they will attack again?" Wild card didn't turn "Who knows but if there smart they'll do it this time next year, but it could be good to test out the deference before hand" he said as Ms Diamond nodded and turned off around the corner to a elevator.

THE SONS OF CRIMSON TIE-IN By LHudson - BRENDAN FOLEY -The man in orange found some life in him, shook as soon as Foley clocked his pistol, forcing him to turn off the music and listen to this man. He wasn't as imposing as his expensive suit gave out, and the fact that he was begging for his life certainly damaged his image. Foley knew he had a job to do, and he knew the details. He looked around to see the party crashers now scrambling with different states of mind, mourning the creature that nearly killed them, to ensuring each other's safety. They wanted this man, and Foley wasn't going to give them him unless... His weapon now aimed at the man's spine, the lower end, and Foley presented him with a card. He worked everything out, from probable payout to the gentleman's worth if he was presented with a contract. "Fifty grand," he spoke with the familiar polite tone he presented to his clients. Nick stopped and stared at the moment for a mere few moments, watching closely, sizing up his foe. "... Fifty grand." He rolled up his sleeve and tapped away the his smart watch before, quickly, the transfer was done. Fifty thousand dollars.

THE SONS OF CRIMSON TIE-IN The Man In Orange tapped away at his watch, almost frantically from the sound the contact was emitting. The tapping stopped, and about thirty seconds later a vibration came from Foley's arm. A minor inconvenience, as he placed the weapon holding the man down into his other hand. Small monitor, just enough for one line of information. **CURRENCY RECEIVED - $50,000.00 from MR NICK MERCER - PLEASE SEND RECEIPT OF TRANSACTION** The writing scrolled across the strip, and Foley smiled to himself as the pressure the gun barrel placed on Mr Mercer lightened before it became nonexistent. "Pleasure doing business with you Mr Mercer," he said politely, before hitting his head with the handle of the weapon. The man now laid motionless, standard procedure for contract buyouts. He stood up straight and dusted himself down before holstering his weapon. He looked around as the once fairly decent warehouse was now covered in corpses, debris, and an almost over-world beast's guts. What mattered was that the job was done, and the others who were there were clearly not part of the deal. Outsiders crashing in. He smiled at the group and took a bow. "A pleasure making your acquaintance," he said, before throwing a business card towards the few. "Should you need my services, don't be shy and give the number a call." He leaned back up, turned around, and waved as he walked towards the exit. "DIE YO--" Bang, and without a flinch a charging man fell flat on his face just in front of Foley. He stepped over the body before saying, "See you around!" in an uncanny, cheery tone.

-- >> ARES << Ares handed the sheet of paper, folded neatly in half twice-over, to one of the younger Wastelanders of the camp. The boy was unarmed, not a skilled fighter by any means, but the best runner that survived the Warbanders' downfall. He knew where to go, and was on his way with a nod from his leader. To Heartania, and its poor East City district, the letter made its way across the border to the territory of the Rook gang. --

Down town in a parking garage with only a few cars spread apart from one an other a man started stepping out of a small limo "damn it, we were so close" Desmo said as he threw his phone to the ground and broke it in two, turning around and pointing to the shadows "this is your fault, you said it was fool proof" he shouted, a man steped out of the shadows with a blue long coat and matching coloured hat "what do you mean?, I just gave you information on the casino, i said nothing about attacking it" the man said with a sly smile on his face, the man turnback around and started to walk back in the shadows "All i did was tell you the opertune time to attack, all you needed to do was get the men and the right tools for the job" he said Desmo looked over to one of his large guards and nodded his head to wards the man walking into the shadows to signal him to grab him, the large guard walked over and reached out to grab him swinging his arms to grab he suddenly turned into smoke and disappeared the guard looked at his hands as smoke started to disapate, as Desmo looked at the guard confuesed he felt an arm restingon his shoulder "Now now, you still need to fill your part of the bargin" the man said as Desmo grew angrier, "oh kill his guy already" he said as he pulled out his gun and started to aim it at the man.
As soon as he saw the gun he pushed Desmo aside as the other guard caught him, the first guard ran at the man ready to punch him the man stood up in shock as he saw the guard heading towards him, as soon as he was right infronton him the guard took a swing and his fist when straight through his head, the man reappeared behind the guard and tried to pull him down with his jacket but the guard just shifted slightly and slowley turned around the man realising his mistake started to run.

L's feet had dragged her back to the apartment. She prayed for the interruption of a returned call even as she turned the key to open the door. She exhaled slowly as it clacked open onto the place she could only think of as a mausoleum. It was certainly dusty, there had been no desire within her to clean.
L headed first into her own room taking out a bag from her wardrobe. She paused but decided against packing clothes. Clothes took up space and she would be wiser to take things like spare parts over something so easily bought and unimportant to an AI who did not sweat or truly need clothes except for human decency. She paused over the books on her shelves only taking her notebook already half filled with designs and a small pencil-case. She nodded feeling done with her own area.
She took one last round the glittery mess of a space behind her as a little regret took hold. It was a dead place to her, the projects of her once abundant creativity left to rot. This was an old her, someone that had begun to shift and change already. Her inner mind twisted and distorted from its beginnings she just wanted to escape it. She strode past the projects meaning to get to Kay's bedroom to start packing the things she would need from there including tools and cash. After all even if she stayed in the city she would not stay here. It was no longer home to her. She only paused when she caught sight of a purple gleam. It was the picture she had wanted to show Kay, the day Kay came to the museum, the day Kay had texted her the warning. She grabbed it delicately smearing the dust off grimly as she added it to her bag of things to take.

Valentine sat with Ali their legs gathered up together as they sat either end of the small couch their feet resting against each other. It was a cosy image there in pyjamas covered in bacon sandwich crumbs with a radio in the background burbling out old Christmas songs. Valentine wanted to reach over and kiss Ali. It was a strange impulse, it wasn't that they loved her it was more a yearning, a want to shock her. Some small part of their mind could tell that a soft and kind act like a kiss would be more surprising to this woman than any act of violence.
"So what's the plan for the rest of the day?" Valentine asked instead placing down their plate on the floor.
"Do we have to have a plan?" Ali laughed receiving a companionable kick to get her back on track. "I want to go visit family just after lunch, you can join me if you want?" She paused a hopeful gleam in her eyes.
Valentine nodded, the small surprised smile Ali gave them was a small taste of what they imagined the kiss would be. Like a startled deer in front of a car.
"Other than that I have a few things prepared for dinner we can heat up, several bottles of whisky, wine and gin. All to be brought together with Christmas movies and music."
"All sounds good to me." Valentine rolled off the sofa, picking up the used plates and heading to the kitchen. It did sound good, a perfect place to be and do all kinds of special things.

Haley was glad to be able to grimace as she made her way into the apartment building where she lived. It was run down with peeling paint, half hearted graffiti as well as an elevator that didn't work and at the best of times only stank of piss. She had a small bag of shopping on her arm containing a bottle of vodka and a homemade Christmas pudding she had been given by a smiling Janine who had been worried about her.
"The vodka will kill whatever flu you've caught and the pudding will get you strong for after." Janine had told her jovially before rushing off home to her family. Haley appreciated the sentiment but felt it would likely be a vodka only event to go along with her routine of the moment. The depressant effects of alcohol took the edge of the hunger if you didn't take it too far, so she hadn't been fully sober for weeks. It was one reason she looked so ruff and why the noise of a man banging on her neighbours door pushed her into taking action.
"Sasha come on baby. Let me in."
"Go away Hank!" The muffled cry of Sasha could be heard from behind the door, the more distant sound of a television turned up really loud could be heard behind her, likely being used to keep her two children from hearing.
"Oi mate piss off." She growled as she reached the landing beside him. He ignored Haley continuing to bang on the door.
"Let me in Sasha you bitch its Christmas! You can't let me not come my kids on Christmas. Screw the restraining order."
Haley was not in the mood as she grabbed his shoulder, she didn't usually get involved in her neighbours lives outright but today this was too much.
"I said piss off. She doesn't want you in there so leave now."
His reply was added to with the gun he began to reach for in his waistband and the desire for violence Haley could read in his eyes.

- BRENDAN FOLEY -BASEMENT - HUNTERS PIT - SCARLET CITY(BGM)
The ball bounced off the floor, wall, before making it's way back into the hand of Foley. He was in pyjamas supplied by Deck, so of course it was bright blue with smiley faces made to grind against what he considered good taste. The music playing on the stereo did distract him from the design, but it didn't distract him from his own thoughts. Mainly, that it's been a few days since he last had a work.
He was able to get a quick contract the day after his little encounter at the warehouse, but since then everything has been on the down low. Crime has dropped slightly due to the fact Foley cut the heads of two gangs, but there were still people willing to pay to get the other heads off crime leaders. Now it was a matter of when the phone rings.
The door opened. "Good morning Ben, how was your night?" said Deck, bringing down some coffee and a newspaper.
"Good, slept well, though waking up has started to grind against my head."
"Still bored?" Deck set down the coffee before he leaned against the support pillar, looking at Foley. "Shopping?"
"What for?"
"Anything? You ever go shopping?"
Foley smiled. "You think a guy like me would go down the high street and get some new clothes?"
Deck took a sip of his coffee while Foley did the same. "You could try to have some fun in some way? See a movie?"
"Too dark, too open."
"Not even something that interests you?"
"My time in China has taught me not to leave yourself open to obvious exposure. Nearly got caught, you know what they do to people like me in the East?"
Deck put too fingers against his head and looked to Foley. He nodded, and Deck immediately placed his fingers back in his pocket. "I could get something to keep you entertained. Movie, video games, books, television."
Foley took a sip of his coffee and leaned back. "Could do with some reading material. You got any suggestions?"
"Fiction or non-fiction?"
Back into his thoughts. "Fiction, something science fiction, space adventure if you can."
Deck smiled and took another sip of his coffee. "I'll get that sorted for y--"
The phone rang, and the two men froze in anticipation. Deck looked at Foley who was looking at the phone, before the two men locked eyes for what felt like hours. The white haired man sported a beaming smile and answered. "Hello?"

The Man In The Rabbit mask handed over the USB to a young, tall black woman named Melanie Strange. Melanie had been working for Heartania News for just over two years and was in charge of making sure everything goes as planned. Melanie met The Man In The Rabbit Mask a week ago, assuming he was just some kind of cosplayer, He'd asked her if she was having any problems, anyone, who needed to be taken care of. Though unnerved, she told the man about her abusive wife. The Man In The Rabbit Mask informed her that he'd deal with it all, make that problem vanish if she'd do him a favour. Hesitantly she had made the deal. To this day, she doesn't remember all the details of their encounter, nor what happened to her ex, but she was at peace now.
The Man In The Rabbit Mask informed her what to do. To make sure the recording on the USB was to be broadcast to everyone in Heartania, or else all her problems would flood back to her. Melanie did not want that. She was going to do what she was told, of course, if she didn't then bad things would happen.
Melanie shifted uncomfortably under the gaze of The Man In The Rabbit Mask as she took the USB. Standing up she quickly hurried away, not wanting to attract his gaze for much longer. The Man In The Rabbit Mask got up from the cafe table and started to walk away, vanishing into a nearby alley back towards his capture.
