"Thank you." Haley handed over twenty-five dollars, slipping the money out of a back pocket. "For this drink and the next I'll be needing in a moment.. And hey either keep the rest as a tip or have a drink on me. Share that holiday spirit."
Haley's gaze lingered on the bar tender with an air of curiosity. There was something about him that seemed familiar, maybe the small satisfied smile reminded her of a person who had found their calling. This was someone happy to be working on Christmas not the look of one pining for a family gathering to head back to. She took the shot glass twirling it a little before slowly pouring it back so the clear liquid went smoothly down her throat in one pour but not quite as suddenly as shotting it.
It made her stomach feel warm, filling a hole. Still afterwards she could feel the sadness tugging at her eyes and mouth. Drinking like this was a bad habit she had clawed away from along with the black outs and the nightmares of the day if not the night. Still she plastered back on the smile as she pushed the empty glass back across the bar. If she focused on the glass then how horny the guys desires next to her weren't so loud and the woman who was dreaming of smothering her next door neighbours baby across the room could fade to a buzz. It was kind of funny that the current desire in front of her was the sweetest in the room. It was like a bright balloon picturing a normal day. It finally clicked for Haley that was why he was familiar, his desire was almost exactly the same as hers.
--
"Then thank you Detective Vance." Ali smiled softly. "I hope you have a better holiday once your shift ends."
A sudden realisation hit her as her gaze darted to the door. Her family would see the police cars, they would want to know if she was okay. Damn. She could not care a toss what the world in general thought of her but her family. Her sister, her nieces and nephews. It was too much. They wouldn't believe she could do this? But that might hurt them more.
Her chest felt so tight, her breathing uneven as she had to place her head between her knees to calm down.
"It'll be okay in the end. It'll be okay." She whispered the words as a little mantra that brought her back from the brink of panic.

- BRENDAN FOLEY -APPROACHING MAZE WORLD BANK - SCARLET CITY(BGM)
Foley looked up as the towering structure of his vantage point got closer and closer to him. Christian was intrigued, and he had an opportunity. "Very simple. I need to get to the top floor, west side office of the Maze tower. High profile target, so I also need someone to cover my tracks."
Another corner. "And...don't suppose you're able to forge an electronic license for a gun? For the track covering."
"Who's the target?" Reid interjected.

A distinct figure stood upon the roof a high building, watching down with quiet anticipation. There was nothing going on in the city. As he looked down on the city, he realised how empty it was, how devoid of life and colour it had become. Maybe it was fate as if the God's had gotten bored of their creations and looked elsewhere. Or, perhaps, the city had been tainted by pathetic squabbling, only heard behind closed doors. No matter, it was still the same inevitable end, a group work left to rot in the flow of time. Such a shame as well. The Man In The Rabbit Mask had been hoping for something to go on, an interesting happening that he could stick his fingers into, but alas that was frivolous thinking on his part.
Hopefully, his plan to liven the city would work. The bombs had been placed. The Chief of Police was missing, along with her second in command. The former not his doing, the latter most certainly. As soon as Heartania News started to play their broadcast, it would switch, to a little game all engineered by a person who simply didn't exist. The Man In The Rabbit Mask took a step off the building and vanished from existence till it was time for him to be observed when the game started.
-----
"Are you ready?"
"Certainly."
"You know what your objective is, correct?"
"Yes, father."
"Repeat it to me, just so I know you remember."
"To locate, and kill, those with supernatural powers. And to find allies whom would help me along the way."
"Good girl."

L stood by the sea of flowers and notes that had become a makeshift shrine to those who had died in and around the fight at the citadel. Some even lain down for the stadium fight and for all the other atrocities that had hit home to the city of Heartania in the last year.
Of course she wasn't sure if Kay had been there, had died there but it made sense to her. Kay didn't like to talk about their jobs with L but she wasn't stupid. She knew what Kay did, what Kay had done as well as what happened to them in the ominous building she could see from where she stood. One day she planned to go spit on the Broker's grave but today was not that day. The best thing she had learnt from her creator, her parent was patience. Most things could wait.
Not this. This could not wait. She kneeled down among the offerings to the dead, small hands caressing wet and faded petals ruined by the intemperate winter weather. She brought her bag forward and took out the picture she had painted for Kay. She smiled softly thinking how much they would hate this. Never leave a trace, Never be noticed, Never connect. But L was not Kay however much she loved them. Her fingers lingered over the purple figure that no one would notice among all the other death.
Instead of sitting there longer she stood up brushing the dirty knees of her jeans as she disappeared back into the city where her decision waited to be made.

- CLAUDIA KRAMER -HEARTANIA HALLAM MUSEUM (INTERIM COURTHOUSE) - TOWN CENTRE - HEARTANIA(BGM)
"He ascended, by majority vote?"
"That's what the decree wrote, 6-1," replied Claudia, towards Councillor Daniels. "I saw it myself, signed and approved."
"Yet we don't have a memory of us passing such a thing, yet it lies within our archives as an approved order," Councillor Daniels replied, sat down on the far left.
"He took the High Chancellor position months ago, surely you understand that in the position you are at, many requests and such go through you."
"You presume rightly, Miss Kramer," said Councillor Nora, one right from the centre. "We do get many requests, but something of high importance as centralising powers to one figure would stick in our minds."
Claudia focused her attention. "Councillor Nora, if I had foreseen that my brother would intend to do something as audacious as sabotage your order, I would've acted as such!"
"Except that is your biggest weakness Miss Kramer." Councillor Nora kept her stern look. "Forgive us if your relation to the late High Chancellor would give us reason to suspect you of hiding something, especially after Chief Johnson reported on your uncooperative nature."
"With all due respect Councillor, my brother had died only a few hours prior!" Claudia spat back.
Nora was about to raise her breath, but was cut off by the councillor at the elevated centre of the committee. Head Councillor Amadeus. "I understand that the mood you were in would've compromised your thought process," he spoke, soft and sympathetic with the tone of the councillors and the words of Claudia. "...and it would be unfair to put the blame for the aftermath purely on you, since even we when put into your position would've reacted similarly." He leaned forward, "...but your inability to swiftly crush the insurgency, was a colossal failure!"
Claudia glanced the live camera to the side, before gazing her attention back to the Head Councillor. "Had I known that the insurgents procured electromagnetic devices that would've cut through the Citadel's defence network, I would've elected to cancel my booked leave! I would've fought by the brave men and women who sacrificed their lived on that bridge! Some even my friends!"
"The names and relations to you are not the concern here today Miss Kramer, the concern is that your approach to the situation showcased weakness, and the High Council do not take this kindly, much less when the man in the High Chancellor seat is questionable," replied Amadeus.
"Weakness?" asked Claudia.
Nora replied, "do we even need to list those and their aliases who managed to escape?"
Reaver, of fucking course. "Councillor Nora, whatever happened behind the gates and the wall between my brother and Reaver was something I did not bear witness to. We wanted more desirable results, but living to fight against the Ravagers instead of dying prolonging a battle is something to consider." She took out her hand and counted the fingers to her points. "Ravagers would've remained a concern, organised crime becoming more of a factor, city moral at an all time low regardless of outcome, and lest we forget that Adrian Cooper is still on the loose?" She stared at the councillors. "Had I been in that position, I would've taken the option that would've allowed us to keep those issues a concern, rather than dying at the starting line."
"It's been a couple of weeks since the last attack," replied Daniels.
"Not a reason to strike them off the radar. I may not be in any position of power but to simply use the Scarlet City news and their distinct absence as reasons to make them no longer a concern would be cause to not take their word as reliable."
Daniels stood up. "You dare speak that?"
"I do," replied Claudia, maintaining her deadpan expression. "I doubt you'd want to take responsibility for being unprepared for an attack."
"Yet here you are, not taking responsibility for what happened at the Citadel," said Nora.
"And as I have said, I rounded up everyone I could and struck back as effectively as I could." Claudia looked down slightly, lamenting the loss of Jason and Lilly, and the poor terms of Jade and Claudia splitting still prodded her. She looked back up. "I can't control what the High Chancellor did. I was given a position of power, and did the job as effectively as I could."
"Yet--"
Nora was cut off by the hand of Amadeus, still maintaining his calm tone. "Enough. The bickering won't do this committee good." He looked at the others on the panel, ensuring they heard what he said.
"Amadeus," said Nora in a hushed tone. "Surely this woman is interfering with the enquiry. Make an example of this idiot!"
Amadeus took in his breath, but before he could speak, a piercing tone entered the ears of every ear and microphone in the building. The brief, high pitched tone penetrated the skulls of everyone, forcing Claudia to clutch her temples in a vain attempt to alleviate the sound, but before shockwave behind her took away any follow-up action she might've planned. Dust swarmed into the room quickly, and the blast was powerful enough to catapult the woman forward, slamming her into the wooden frame that the High Council sat at.
The deep boom was heard throughout the building, and fire-alarms screeched throughout the structure, yet Claudia felt too weak to move a muscle. She struggled to comprehend the sudden motion, and the fluctuating vision did her no favours.

= SPIRIT WAR PRELUDE =
APOLLO | Jay Hearne Central Park - Morning His eyes narrowed as the purple shadows weaved through the trees. He took a deep breath, ready to strike. Any minute now... Snikt. As the foliage rustled, Jay switched and fired a volley of light at the ethereal presence.
ANOMALY | Rory Cross The Tower, Morning KA-BOOM! The blast rang out, shaking the very concrete. Rory dropped into a loose stance as the distant rumbles reached him. Taking a deep breath, Rory blinked, allowing his cybernetic eye implants to activate. Tapping into his security camera uplink, Rory effortlessly navigated the city to determine the blast epicenter. "The museum!" he heaved to his allies, looking to them with grave concern, "Come on." With a snap of his fingers, a flash of blue light eclipsed Rory's shoes and clothes, causing them to vanish and revealing his gunmetal cybernetics underneath. His pale hands and neck then began to fluctuate, seeming to segment into pieces. The pieces of flesh then seemed to flip, revealing more of his cybernetics. Finally a hard-light blue visor fizzled into place over his eyes as he became Anomaly. Rory clapped his feet together, causing them to pulse with light as he began to hover. His magna-skates. At high speeds he then took off towards the museum, assuming his new allies were in close pursuit.
PHOBOS The Two Aces, Morning
Phobos smiled as he placed the shot glass by her side. She seemed different from the rest of the losers in here; spending their Christmas drowning their sorrows, in spite of their amicable exteriors. Though curiosity aside, the man had better things to do than muse over some peculiar woman, such as earn money.
Dr. KILLIAN WOLFRAM Undisclosed Location - Morning Grump and groggy, Killian pulled himself into his desk chair, offsetting it slightly as he slumped down hurriedly. He pulled up a monitor displaying the Cooper-cam feed and tapped his earpiece. "What are you doing, Adrian?" he spat with disdain. This explosion at the museum was part of no plan of Killian's, and he'd heard nothing from the Marshal regarding this. It was the day and place of the surviving Kramer's hearing. What stake could Adrian have in this? Some personal vendetta? Some conspiracy? Chaos for chaos' sake? Regardless, Killian could not help but feel disappointed in himself, having not kept the prisoner on a shorter leash. Quietly, he prayed that the Marshal had authorised this, lest he be help responsible for the prisoner's transgressions.
BACKLASH | Mason Vance Residence of Ali Severells - Morning
Mason watched Ali as she began to mutter to herself. He honestly felt for her, knowing she was innocent in all of this. Suddenly, huffing and puffing, Hull came barging back into the main room, the detectives standing worriedly behind him, radios in hand. Mason picked up on this and immediately reached for his radio, realising he didn't have it on his person. "What is it?" "Terrorist attack on the interim government," Hull snarled, "Explosion." Mason's jaw dropped, "My God. Do you think its the Ra-" "No son," Hull interjected, "No sign of any flaming women or ice castles." Silence eclipsed the room. Was this someone new? Or perhaps Marshal Maleficus had struck again. Breathing sharply through his nose, Mason looked to Ali, chain up on her chair. "I- I- I-" he stuttered, taking her by the arm, "You guys get down there. I'll take the suspect to the station and we'll meet up there." Any fireball would leave casualties. These people needed a healer.

- BRENDAN FOLEY -APPROACHING MAZE WORLD BANK - SCARLET CITY(BGM)"Who's the target?" Reid interjected. Foley chuckled to himself a little. "Christian, you and both know that's between me and the client, though I'm pretty sure the job will end up on the news in some way, much like that incident at the Cherry Tree a few nights ago." He pulled up across the street from the bank, a nearby alleyway. "I just need to get to the swanky west side top floor office, unseen on camera and security." He parked the bike. "You in?"
- NATASHA MCCALL -THE TOWER EXTERIOR - HEARTANIA "Well--"
A loud crack rang into the courtyard, followed by the loud noises cause by the shockwave. Alarms where going off, and the gust of snow caught McCall's legs with a sharp chill. She looked behind her, and saw a dark cloud rise against the white sky that covered the city.
No, she thought to herself.
"The museum!" said Anomoly, showing stern concern that sharply contrasted against his previous attitude. "Come on." He started dashing out of the entrance, and McCall looked back at Sonar.
"Umm..." she muttered, trying to compose herself in the emergency. "...I..." she swallowed. "...I'll meet you there!" It was an emergency, personal chatter can wait, and with one pluck of her guitar string, she took to the skies and headed to the source.

Haley picked up the new glass, swirling it again. It was her favourite bit about vodka the way it glided like iced water.
"I know this sounds stupid but I feel like I know you." The words slipped out as she looked at the bartender. "Damn i'm sure you've heard that from a hundred drunks and its not like it could be true."
She drank down the second shot even slower now. A stupid nervous grin pulling at her lips, as she regretted speaking. It was maybe time to move on sooner than planned the child killing woman was too loud. The dark part of her wanted to taste that desire fulfilled the bitter-sweetness of it. The sorrow and guilt but also blessed peace. The sensation made her feel sour. No child murder today or any day.
"Nah I can't know you. You don't work at the Heartania News Studio of that i'm sure, and I doubt you crawled out of hell recently. At least I hope you didn't, no one deserves that place whatever sin they committed. Even the bitch over there who wants to kill a kid." The words were heavier than planned the end carrying the weight of the nightmares. "Ignore me. Thanks have a good Christmas."
She moved away from the bar, towards the outside. Maybe the next bar would be quieter. There was always hope for a miracle.

-Harvey Hare- Sat in his cell Harvey looked across at the small Christmas tree near the only way in and out of the cell block, looking over at the other prisoners some where laid on the bed and reading and other where well... probably best I don't tell you, but the person at the other cell across from Harvey was busy shouting at the camera looking down at him "Hey, There better be some one working in there, its Christmas and were not getting any gifts, Ive been good as gold since you put me in here", the older man in the cell next to Harvey's lowered his book "Your in Prison know one in here gets gifts" he said as he looked over "Shut up old man, I deserve at least at drink" they shouted as the snatched a cup from their sink with some water in it, they took a sip and spat it out with force "Im sick of drinking this sea water, get me some wine or atleast something with Alcohol in it" they continued. Harvey started to shake and held his stomach as something was awakening in him again, the person shouting looked over "See this scrawny guy gets it he wants a Beer too" they shouted and pointed, Harvey still holding his chest "please stop.." he said quietly, the old man in the cell heard him put started to read his book and smile "heh heh heh this could be promising" he muttered to him self as he formulated a plan

Eve stood by their car enjoying the feel of the cold air on their skin. It had been so long since they could just relax. Like anyone in the world they had been caught in a web of commitments that restricted what they could do but here they stood on the cusp of a new adventure. It had only seemed fair to offer the same opportunity to L.
The glanced into the back seat of the little car catching a glimpse of the rucksack that sat there. It was all they would need there in that vehicle. The bag had a small gathering of only their favourite clothes, all those comfy items that still smelt of the small number of people in the world they gave a damn about. Giving up the web didn't mean you had to forget, just let go. It had been tempting to leave a message for a couple of them but in the end they didn't. If they crossed paths again one day maybe they could be friends again but for now it was probably better to remain strangers. To remain a vague face to be forgotten.

- THE SHERIFF -
Fire, fire everywhere and all the air did shrink. James hadn’t realised it sooner, but as he looked at his bloodied hand, feeling a numbing experience intermingle with the pain, his fingers instinctively twitched as he realised that both the last two fingers on his left hand were gone, fallen to the fire that cascaded the decor of the bar around them. Fire wasn’t the most worrying thing however, with the somewhat whimpering boy behind him and his ailing condition, he suddenly heard rough words that he imagined could etch themselves in minds miles away.
At first he saw the katana, the blood red hue emanating from it as his first thoughts were; Luke? He could imagine Luke would be the type of person to follow him to this accursed city, but after today it wasn’t like he knew much of anything anymore. Instead fire and metal, hostility and neutrality, smoke and air, all of those clashed in the scarlet night, as he glanced at the blade wielder. Instead of what he imagined, it was a young dark-haired woman, one whose visage had a familiarity about them but he could barely see them and she could barely see him through all the smoke. The man backed down, as he simply glanced down at the blade at his neck. James tried to drag the boy back, heading quickly away from the woman as he started heading towards the door. Though a part of him wanted to revel in the action, James couldn’t help but glance at the boy on his first few hours to his hometown he had already found himself bleeding, starting to already feel the pain cascade through his body, he looked around.
“What the hell is going on?” murmured James towards the boy behind him who only shrugged in response, shaking as he stared at the havoc around them both.
“I don’t know! I don’t know! I promise I didn’t do anything!” cried the younger man, quickly glancing around as the thug on the ground only glared at him, still feeling the sharp reminder of his limited options through the blade that threatened to slice his throat. James just wanted to get out of here, but to where, and to who was the bigger problem, he doubt he’d have the most relaxing time in the hospital, if he could ever get there. The sound of screeching car tires outside grabbed his attention, as through the flames that threatened to flicker forward and covet the door, shadows spun from the haziness of the fire were fast approaching the building, seemingly their eyes (if they had any) staring in the direction of the young boy. “We have to get out of here!” He only pointed at the door for James to nod as he simply stared around, looking for another way out. And then he remembered something.
"I know another way out!" alerted James, as he simply exchanged a solemn look towards the woman, he could barely see her face through the smoke this whole time as he quickly rushed towards the back door, feeling the nightly cold air against him which was a relief to the heated inferno behind. He saw a nearby car, bulky but anything would do. As he quickly rushed towards the car, he could start to feel faint, blood dripping and leading a trail behind him. "You wouldn't happen to know how to hot wire a car, right?"
The boy only glanced at James uncertainly.
He knew he thought it before, but at this point he had to say it again; shit.

When Eve turned around it was as if the world had congealed into a film. For there L stood, a shadow on the pavement. She looked nervous a small rucksack in hand but a look of determination on her face as she approached the calm faced Eve. In a swift move the young AI grabbed Eve in a tight hug that the older figure returned. Small tears formed on L's face as she buried her head in Eve's chest. She didn't need to speak her decision aloud, no big speech was needed in this small moment.
"It's okay." Eve breathed out gently, their own face melting as they held L like she was the most precious thing in the world.
"Time to go now." L spoke suddenly and abruptly before extricating herself from the hug.
Eve nodded getting into the car before being joined by L. They were silent for a while as Eve drove carefully down roads keeping to the traffic signals. As they finally passed the border of the city into the limbo of in-between Eve breathed out a relieved sigh.
"Free." L spoke gently, just above the sound of the song on the radio.
"Free." Eve replied with a brief turn of their head their eyes almost seeming to change to purple in the half light of the road ahead.

The camera cut back, interrupting the special broadcast that was on going. The man, unremarkable but clearly tired, starred at the camera as it was transmitting to the televisions of the Heartania civilians that were celebrating their holidays. Fatigued, tired, and sporting a five-o-clock shadow with bags under his eyes, he looked at the camera and told those at home something they were expecting, but didn't desire it. "We're getting breaking news from Heartania Founder's Square." The footage cut to a security camera mounted on a nearby building, suddenly going static as a circle of dust and debris suddenly kicked up. "We're getting confirmed reports that a bomb has gone off. Reporters nearby have said that judging from the footage you're seeing, it's likely the source of the explosion came from the Founding Father's statues. Currently there are no reports of fatalities, but we can confirm that emergency services and heroes from the Tower are arriving to tend to the incident. The explosion comes during the hearing of Claudia Kramer in the Hallam Museum, but we cannot confirm that the two events are related--" The screen started to go static, struggling to maintain it's connection with the reporter. As hard as it was to keep the screen focused on the man, the noise generated soon extended itself to the televisions around the city. Homes, public houses, anywhere with a screen went static, before suddenly stopping to show a man shrouded in darkness, his outline being faintly visible to the people watching.
- DR ADRIAN COOPER -UNKNOWN LOCATION - HEARTANIA(BGM) A chuckling hum escaped the mouth of Cooper, as he looked into the lens that gazed back at him. "Interesting, isn't it? How we're not disturbed by the eyes of a private broadcasting company watching every move we make." He leans upright, keeping eye contact with the camera as his full outline became clearer and clearer to those watching. "Yet, when someone outside broadcasting uses it for anything, it is immediately horrifying."
A crooked smile escaped from Cooper, highlighted by his white teeth showing themselves. "Make no mistake people of Heartania, I've been using it while you tried to move on with your lives."
Beat. Deep breath.
"I once thought that the wider world was kind to the regular folk once this phenomenon we call heroes started cropping up. People finally able to do good instead of sending their thoughts and prayers to make themselves feel better, being able to act outside the bureaucracy that holds our emergency services back from doing what they swore they would do, finally able to break through the deadlock we've had for decades against crime. Remember those days, those wondrous weeks of misguided optimism?"
"I remember them well, it gave the vulnerable a sense of security, a sense of hope that those aiming their sights on them would whittle away."
The smile faded slowly. "Yet, when you actually look at the impact it has had on us..." he takes a step forward, closer to the lens, and allows the room light to finally show his battered face, complete with the purple augmented eye that shined for the world to see. "...it has only created monsters like me."
The room lights turn on, showing the featureless room with two morphs and a table of weapons. "There was a film I watched, where a wise sage warned his student that anger would lead to more destruction. Pain leads to anger and rash decisions, the message was. Doesn't that sound all too familiar?"
He turned around and faced the table, walking towards it as he swallowed his pride and continued his facade. "Interesting, how the root cause of everything in this city stems from the heroes failure to control those around them, instill the right message that consequence will come should you break an ethical code. Their failure to take control of the situation, their inability to pick between what was right and what was beneficial for them only brought pain for everyone involved, in addition to many others back home."
He pick up a pistol, custom built for the persona he has played for the last few weeks. "What if someone was able to stop the pain for you? Anyone, to fulfill the promises that we thought ourselves when we got the news of this 'positive' outbreak?"
He turned back to the camera, checking his weapon, before starting his walk back into position. "We were given freedom, security, and comfort, yet they were all a lie. Your pinnacle, your top man and woman to watch over this city, nowhere to be seen." He looked at the camera. "Cowering away from their responsibilities." He relaxed his arms. "Miss Grace Scott cowered away when I took off her mask, Argent Mind cowered away when the city was tearing itself apart over their lack of control, yet we have an example of someone able to work without a mask and able to control those for the betterment of themselves."
He raised his arms.
"Look at them. Look at my children, completely obedient, yet they haven't done any more damage then you citizens have in the past few months." His arms lowered. "I don't hide behind a mask or a persona," he continues, succeeding in keeping his composure in the eyes of the city. "I'm not afraid to come out, yet your leader in the Tower hasn't been seen for sometime. Crime is running rampant gangs are growing, yet he's done nothing."
He inspected his weapon again. "Today, I start opening your eyes to the fraud that the Tower is, and you have the freedom to decide between living with that false sense of security, or submitting to someone who will actually do something, because in the end, thoughts and prayers are not going to do anything." His arms gave off the purple aura that came with the image, before 'the Marshal', pointed his weapon at the camera lens.
"Merry Christmas Heartania." He fires at the lens, and the broadcast cuts out. "Instill fear," he told himself, and by extension the eyes who was watching over him.

The Two Aces - Morning "I know this sounds stupid but I feel like I know you." Phobos smiled, notching his head to the side slightly. That was laughable; this woman could not know Phobos for Phobos barely knew himself. Besides, he was 'new in town'. "Damn I'm sure you've heard that from a hundred drunks and its not like it could be true." the woman continued. Phobos watched as the slowly drank the second shot, placing the shot glass back down upon the bar, "Nah, I can't know you. You don't work at the Heartania News Studio of that I'm sure," that was true, Phobos did not, "and I doubt you crawled out of Hell recently. At least I hope you didn't, no one de..." Phobos' smile dropped instantly. He ceased to pay attention to her words as she continued to ramble, his eyes darting open and his mouth pulled taught. Her too? She'd seen it; the abyss. FLASH! Phobos retched in pain as hundreds of images surged through his head; blood, pain, destruction, all of the torture he'd suffered down in that abyssal pit by the hands of the Revenants. These were lost memories; he had remembered nothing since returning to the mortal plain, but right here; right now these memory flashes coursed through him, overwhelming him. And in a moment they were gone. How could she have seen it? They said that he was the lone Titan, and she was surely not the Ascendant Champion; her essence was far too dark. How had she seen Hell? Without a moments thought, Phobos dropped his white rag and pushed out from the behind the bar, bounding up to the woman as she moved to leave the establishment. Catching her outside, Phobos opened his mouth and began to speak English with a confidence he hadn't previously realised he'd had, "Excuse me?" he asked, approaching her from behind, "What did you mean? 'Crawl out of Hell', exactly?"

Haley turned surprised to find the bartender hovering above her asking about hell.
"You won't believe me. And if you do..." She eyed him carefully backing away slightly. He was probably a person who had just suffered some mental break or addiction but she spoke the truth anyway. It was the first time she had told anyone and it felt kind of right to confess it to a stranger who would assume she was mad. The alcohol encouraged her maybe a little too much.
"I was a bad person but I got dragged down by something worse. Ripped apart as an extra I wasn't meant to be there. In the real dark. Still they take you apart piece by piece anyway and when you surface you aren't you anymore. But I didn't matter so they didn't bother to destroy me properly, just toy with me. I crawled out through a gap only small enough for an insignificant piece of crap like me. And as I said I was different. For a start I woke up hungry in my own grave."
Haley laughed bitterly then shook a little, feeling the edge of her other form waiting to take over but she buried it. This was not the time for it to play.
