When the gates came crashing down a wave of tear gas shot from behind her. The tear gas aimed at the centre of the crowd, seeking to have them disperse. When the wave of bullets came, she ducked, but her men were not so lucky. Chris fell, John fell and so did Amelia. She cursed under her breath as she watched her comrades fall like lifeless sacks.
Rage boiled within her. So much anger she felt it course through her veins, tell her body to get up and fight. To fight until her legs gave way and her arms stop functioning and her heart stops beating. Her fighting instinct wanted her to get out there and bust some heads. She was tempted to tell her men to retreat to the citadel while she fought. And so she did, "All men retreat!" And without any complaint, they all retreated. By the time they left she was the only one hiding behind that barrier, clutching her gun like a child to a toy. She'd stay and fight; she couldn't sacrifice any more of her men to these killers.

"Clyde, I haven't been an operative in years..." Ali's voice trailed off as her brow scrunched up in a quick roll on to defeat. She would help because she could help. It had been a long time since she had ever turned down a person in need whatever their circumstances might be.
"What units do we have and has anyone got a map of the location?"
She stood taller her fingers tightening her bun before she strapped her first aid pack a little tighter.
"If we're playing this old style we'll want to set up a forward medic base at the edge of an evacuation cordon. And of course contact any hospitals for ambulances to ferry the serious cases. Where is the police chief? It would probably be easier to get an evacuation sorted with their support. "
She ran through a plan that was edited a little from her days as support, she never would have called for ambulances then as a matter of pride. She wasn't so stupid any more.
"Though of course I defer to you.. Even if the mask still looks ridiculous after all this time. Why did I ever think that thing was a good idea in gold?"
--
Kay continued to wander along. They reached a point where they could hear the roar of the mob and as they turned the corner they saw them all, catching a glimpse of the bloody explosion. For now they hung back in the relative safety of buildings away from the gate.
Acchilleus had given no orders for them at this point so there was no reason not to wait and see before moving into the fray.

- KINETIC WARDEN - As Ali directed the relief operations, Clyde had begun work on drawing up maps of the supposed battlefield, and organizing the attacking operatives. It was a difficult task, given the circumstance, but still came naturally to him. Kinetic Warden was never known for what his powers were, rather what he did with them. At mention of the gold mask, he smirked, whilst finalising the Tower plans. He twirled his quarterstaff round his hand, in order to put it in a more passive position as he placed his free, gloved hand on Ali's shoulder. "I feel like I'm supposed to say this is just like old times, but back in our day we did our politics on the ballot box, not on the streets," he handed Ali an earpiece communicator, one most Tower staff were privy to, "if you need me at any point in this, call me." Clyde immediately clicked his boots and turned to face the corridor. He walked into Rhys' room, where the resident, Argent, and Lady Magnet had been talking before. Without a word, he gave Argent a nod of respect and understanding. He then gave Raylene a particular head gesture that plainly spoke 'your city needs you', and marched his way out of the Tower, where the operatives would be ready to make their move.

- ACCHILLEUS -
Acchilleus watched the bitter gas launched toward them. He gasped, his eyes widening once more as he raised some of the walls that had already been formed, and yet it was all for nothing. Though, Acchilleus stopped the gas coming toward him, those at the far front lines whose walls had not yet reached high enough were severely affected. Vipers were suddenly starting to go back, forming a line that was only now just in front of Acchilleus who had stopped marching forward as the gas spread. He watched as several more of The Vipers dropped like flies, their raggedy breaths besmirching the whip of winter’s wind. Acchilleus was thankful for the walls close to him that he had raised causing the tear gas to be knocked back and strike the front lines, and yet at the same time, part of him was disgusted.
The wind was wild and fierce, spreading the tear gas more as Acchilleus was already watching The Vipers beginning to fall back, rushing as Rick was coughing and panting due to the effects of the gas that had caught him. He stuck with Acchilleus behind cover, as he tried to catch his breath. It was then and there that the two exchanged looks of furrowed brows and piercing eyes as they turned to see a couple of The Vipers that had their skin stained by the gas were wildly reaching out, looking for anyone, anything, as their eyes had been blinded only to fall to their deaths on the frozen ice below.
“We need to get rid of this gas!” cried Rick, still panting as several of The Vipers taking cover, tried their best to shoot at the silhouettes that were barely outlined amongst the thick and foggy mist of the treacherous gas, spreading its influence everywhere and only striking the lungs of more.
“I’ll figure something out, for now, just keep shooting and staying out of its way!” ordered Acchilleus as he saw Rick nod, and then comply, joining the others, adding to the barrage of bullets that now faced those on the bridge. The Vipers were quickly falling back as the tear gas continued to spread, ready to recoup and mount their second onslaught soon

- JONATHAN KRAMER - The room was extremely dark and extremely quiet. Wasn't normal, it was where the power was conducted and normally had the deep hum anyone would expect from a power station. All it is now is an empty husk with Ftangr's experiments keeping it away from being the loneliest place on the planet. It was oddly welcoming, and it did stop Jon from becoming sick. He was reminded by a story his cousin told about how people use to torture enemies by locking them in a sound-proof room, could drive anyone mad. He held his lighter close to the walls, he knew what he was looking for but the limited visibility and the lack of even a working emergency exit sign stopped Jon from gaining any clear perspective. He had to feel the walls, strange way to find what he was looking for. He found it, two small doors opened out from the wall to reveal something he hoped had some life within it, a working computer. Granted it cannot connect to the network or...anything, but the one thing it could do, and was the only job it should do, was monitor the power. Black and green, basic, but thanks to Ftangr's experiments it was the only thing that had some life. Thank you old friend. He wiped out the dust and pressed a button. It showed the basic information. Gate defences, down. Anti-personal cannons, down. AA, down. Interior defence systems, down. Communications, down. Air conditioning, down. The last point was too important, the Vault really needed it considering the amount of people heading down there. He typed to reactivate the power. Took a couple of frantic types and retypes due to the speed and limited visibility. Took a little bit of time and made Jon sweat, before: 'Power successfully reactivated.'"YES!" he shouted, victory assured. 'Currently rebooting system, please standby. His cheers was wiped away in an instant. On the screen was a percentage and progress bar that didn't move. Ten seconds went by and not a single percentage was added. Jon sighed deeply, it was going to be a long night if it wasn't his last. He stood up and turned to see the door open. "Sir? Are you in here?" There was a little bit of light coming in, made getting out easier. If he was going to succeed, he would have to enter the battlefield.
- JURIS TOUFEXIS - Juris stopped the Warden from moving, simple hand on the shoulder. "I know this is an emergency, and I understand the consequences of not saving those civilians.@ He leaned in. "But you and I know that if you rescue civilians and try to apprehend criminals on one side, that it's going to look like the tower did pick a side." He took his hand of the young man, and finished with, "just, don't get yourself killed kiddo." He nodded in respect, before retreating back to his designated location.

APOLLO | Jay Hearne Jay flinched as the gunshot rang out. He thought he'd be used to it given he'd grown up surrounded by gang warfare but considering his recent experience his reaction was justified. Panic over he watched as Chase retrieved an armoured outfit and changed into it efficiently. He knew she had powers but it turned out she was one of those vigilantes also. "You may have your own calling, but this is mine. I'm going out there, to help restore order to the city. Don't breathe a word of this to anyone." She turned to leave as he stopped her, holding his hand in front of her to catch her arm. "No," he interjected spontaneously, "I have these powers for a reason, and part of that is to help people. I'm coming with you."

~Dr Clueless~ after looking around the room it was a normal office with a ceiling fan and large desk near the window and opposite the door so when people walked in they whose office it was, looking over at the Q-bot he was sat on the sofa bouncing up and down "will you stop that your gonna.." 'SNAP!' the sound of the sofa breaking in half due to the weight of the Q-bot "break it.." Clueless continued as the Q-bot was now on the floor, walking over to the desk Clueless sat on the chair and spun around in it planting his feet on the desk and locking his fingers while sat in the chair with a disappointing look he saw a photo of someone with a father figure "erg what an ugly kid" he said picking up the photo, looking back to the desk he threw the photo behind him as it landed on the floor he picked some of the folders left there opening them up and looking through them a few words kept popping up in them'Citadel, Safe zone, the greater good(maybe not that last one)' "hmm what would someone want with bunch of plans t.." stopping midsentance Clueless stopped reading and stood up, keeping hold of the folders he walked over to the door opening it and looking out there were no guards "ok.. well better find out where we arrrrrrree..." he said as he looked at the name on the door 'Mr Achhilues ....', slowly closing the door "oh great we wound up in the other place i didnt want to be today" he said sarcastically "well its going better then the last one... atleast hes not here" he said as he looked at the other door "come on Q-bot lets get out of here, we've already broken his sofa we dont want to break more" he said as the Q-bot was about to touch the desk

~ Snowflake ~ -- Snowflake hadn’t expected him to react like that.
“T-Thomas-“ She had stuttered, overwhelmed and in shock when he had pushed past her in the narrow corridor.
With a choked whisper, she had held back the tears forming in her eyes and rushed towards the toilets. “You fucking bastard. If that’s what you think- then- then I’m better off without you.”
--
Now she waited behind Reaver and watched the chaos erupt with an expressionless face. The fight reminded her of the battle at the Capital Stadium two months ago; a situation quickly getting out of hand, people running for cover while they fought to get their will. The only thing missing was a helicopter, and Crim- Snowflake coughed briefly and continued watching, checking her weapon for the fifth time already. In a little while she planned to have her brother back and maybe after that; leave this damn city for good.

CRIMSON | Thomas Drake Crimson took a deep breath as he cleared his head. He sat on a rooftop near the coastline, safely out of the way of the main conflict and observed as fiery hell rained down from above. He smiled, quickly picking the assailant out with the scope of his high-powered rifle. Briante had warned him about her just hours ago, Venator. She sat high on a perch far up the Citadel's main tower, just out of his range. Shame. Instead Crimson turned his focus to the ground, observing Acchilleus - the big man - in action summoning large shields from the earth itself. So he was a super? That was news to Crimson. Then he scanned the enemy camp where he identified multiple targets in the courtyard on the end of the bridge. Many faded into the background but one major player stood out; the boy from the stadium, Claudia Kramer's friend. Hunter. Crimson gritted his teeth as he relieved Hunter shooting Snow, leaving her in critical condition, his rage grew and grew until reality set in. Snow. No... Crimson winced, shoving those thoughts to the back of his mind as he continued to scan the field. Soldiers; armed men lined the walls of the courtyard, their hulking guns trained on the insurgency, the police also lied behind the gates, cowering behind cover as Acchilleus' Vipers returned fire. He searched the area painstakingly looking for the target, but as always he was hiding in the safety of his fortress while his buddies dealt with his problems. Coward. Funny, that word still stung.
THE QUEEN OF HEARTS | Alice Drake Her eyes rang as the blast through her to the ground. Alice panted from breath as she recovered, her eyes narrowing with determination. She looked around quickly to ascertain her position, her eyes happening upon her weary comrade. "Blood," she remarked forcefully to Sienna, though clearly glad to see her, "Are you alright? Where's Vermillion?" Her swords sat comfortably in her hands, but at the back of the crowd her moment to made some heads roll had not yet come. This battle would start slow, and it would take a while for things to get interesting.
TEMPEST | Sir Richard "Today," Sir Richard commanded, "You may leave with your life, foul creature." His grip on his sword tightened, "But cause harm to this... kingdom again and I shall be the end of you."

>> THE HARVESTER << Silent as the night, a body slipped through the fray. Chaos was running rampant, firearms being sprayed everywhere. Not an ideal situation for one so specialised in dealing with lone targets. He had elected to stay at Acchilleus' side, observing, for the start of the battle, but now an opportunity had seeded itself to Orlando Briante. The police barricade, the last bastion of defense before the brunt of the Safe Zone's force crashed on the walls of the Citadel, was thinning out, and a priority target now found herself exposed. Orlando emerged from the sea of battle, drawing his weapon as he approached the barricade. "Police Chief Monica Johnson," he sneered, well aware of the law's thirst for a killer such as hismelf, "I see you've got some guts. Let's see what they look like across the pavement." >> SONAR << Johnny watched as Aderyn took flight, cursing his inability to keep up with her. Damn girl is going to get herself killed. Shaking his head, confident that his thought was just paranoia and that his old friend could hold her own much better than that, he joined Jason and Shade at the gate. "Alright then mates, let's get into the thick of it!" He rubbed his hands together and pressed them to the ground, a low rumbling resonating outward.

-Long Jian- Long kept his gaze upon the knight as he said he could leave taking a quick glance at Indran and back to the knight he started to walk, stepping over the staff and looking at the entrance there was still a crowed forming 'cant go that way' he thought not wanting to start up a ruckus with his appearance he walked one to one of the side entrances, he left his cloak behind as the snow would mask him enough

Emma Fitzgerald December 2055, Scarlet City When she left rehab, Tommy had installed Emma in her own little flat - so graciously funded by David Bates. He would often come and visit her there, to check up on her, keep her company and be there for her. Sometimes he'd stay the night but he was never there for long; the life of a hero was busy, especially in Scarlet City. But Christmas was different. It was Emma's first Christmas away from her family, having run away when she ended up in rehab. She never looked back but - despite their abuse - couldn't help but miss them. It was a familial connection that she could never sever even if she hated them. This month, throughout the season, Tommy spent the entirety of it with Emma. They watched bad movies and played games, they told stories and even went on a trip away to Bayport for a few days. And come Christmas day Tommy made sure it was special. Christmas Eve Tommy introduced Emma to his family as his girlfriend. She met his mother Nora, his brother Damian, 20, and his two younger sisters; Kay, 7, and Alice, 11. They welcomed her with loving and open arms, making her feel like one of their own, and on Christmas Day they used the minimal money they had all saved up to put on a real feast. She felt more loved with complete strangers than she ever did with her own family.

Sienna turned sharply as she heard Alice's voice. It cut through her blood lust like an ice cube down her spine.
"Alice!" She grinned, though her brow creased as she looked at her slightly different attire. That at least explained why she hadn't instantly spotted her.
"I haven't seen him. I left the house trying to catch up with you and I haven't bumped into him since then. He's probably too busy working out whether he can find a free drink or something stupid like that."
She let the relief of finding Alice wash through her like a healing balm. It took the edge off the worst of her panic but she still itched to hurt the people inside.

Ali tucked in the ear piece with a small nod. Clyde had his own worries but it felt weird to be back in a position of authority. She made her way to the reception desk the only real point of contact she knew in this hulking building on the way out.
"Hello, i'm Sanator Hippocratia. I need you or someone else to run a few things for me. We need to contact the police to see if they can help support us but before that we need to ring the hospitals to get some ambulances on stand by at this location."
She pointed out the spot on the map she had chosen which was connected with the most road ways and far enough from the fighting that there would hopefully be no spill over. Still with her next request she let a rebellious smile play at her lips lifting some of the years from her face revealing the young hero from before and the interesting visit she had enjoyed in Heartania last time.
"And this is a terrible question but do you know where I could get a motorbike?"

- JONATHAN KRAMER - Jon walked down several corridors with an assistant by his side. The pacing was fast, it needed to be fast, he was prepared to walk into hell and he intended to leave as the victor, even if the victory would turn out to be hollow. "We have no way out, the VTOL cannot land, and any form of communication is non-existent." "I gathered that when all of our systems went down," said Jon, as he entered a room to be united with the experimental uniform. "And as far as we can see, the gate is barely holding, fire has been hailing towards both sides but it seems that Acchilleus is retreating." "Incorrect." Gloves and boots on. "I doubt anyone with the backing like Acchilleus would shy away mere minutes after he opened fire at our gates." Chest and legs on, before the standard Chaser helmet was given to him. He sighed deeply. "They're going to punch through those gates, and we're going to have to pray to god we can hold them off until the cannons come back online." The helmet was basic, would protect his head so long as he kept moving, eyes nose and mouth still exposed. "Sir...we do have one thing that might interest you." Another mouse came into the room, holding something familiar. It had a camera and a remote control, but it was odd that it would be of interest. "A drone?" he asked. "Not just any drone, but the drone you commissioned to allow ease of coverage." It took some time for him to think about the drone, but it did give him some form of perspective and possibilities. The drone had a camera, it had camo to the point that it was invisible, but most importantly it had one connection, and one connection only. The Heartania News Network. "Would I be able to send a pre-emptive message?" "It'll be picked up by network members but it would be saved." He nodded. "Alright, let's get recording." The drone started to fly, and the red dot was visible to him. "This is High Chancellor Jonathan Mark Kramer, appointed by the High Council and based in the Citadel beyond Pacify Hills." He swallowed a little bit. "If you are reading this then the possible end is nearing, Acchilleus is at the gates and is supported by the known terrorist group The Ravagers. We have evidence to support this fact but it won't change that we are currently with no way to defend or to communicate aside from shouting. I am about to go onto the bridge to at least hold them off with the brave men and women of the Citadel, and the support of mercenaries generously offered by Salvador Ragno." He appreciated the support, though now wasn't the time to thank people. "In the event that we do not succeed in holding them off, I would like to issue a warning that among those that could be counted among the dead are journalists, men, women, children, doctors, and Starlass' parents. I can only pray that not be the case, but knowing the Ravagers the past two months I wouldn't be surprised if they did such a thing as a victory celebration." He swallowed. "To my sister Claudia, I know I've been distant since I took up this position, but I do hope you continue the fantastic work you have done throughout your life, I'm sorry I couldn't save you before, and I'm sorry I didn't have the time to say goodbye." His eyes started to swell. "To Benedict. You're a real crazy bastard for coming here, but the moral support that you've given me throughout my early years is something I will never forget. I just hope you stay out of this mess." His eyes were red, the tears came down. "To Jade." He wiped his eye. "I...I'm..." He took a deep breath. "I wished we could've done more together, just you and me." He swallowed. "I miss you, and please...keep safe." Deep breath. "Thank you." He wiped his eyes clean. "Deploy that thing. Time to meet the troops." He stood up, and looked at his gear. Experimental, near bullet proof but to what degree is barely known. He'd have to be careful not to run too much or the pain would hit him. Arms had knives and so did his waist, but a baton and riot shied were ready. Old trusted tools, and it will hopefully save him again. He stepped out of the changing room and walked into the light, into the gunfire, onto the courtyard.
